Adam Sutherland is a Sydney based
fashion / lifestyle photographer and a Senior Art
Director in the advertising industry.
At an early age he began shooting with an old box
brownie given to him by his mother Nola and so began
a life long obsession.
At age 18 Adam enrolled in photography at College,
but choose to pursue a career in Advertising, leaving
after 3 months only to head back 20 years later to
finish his formal training. The many years between
working as an Art Director, with some of Australia's
best photographers, has proved to be a blessing.
Adam took up shooting seriously again in 1999, armed
with two decades of experience and fresh inspiration.
After 5 years as Tripod photography he then became
adamsutherland.com.au and in 2004, was published over
30 times.
Adam Sutherland Photography specialises in the
male of the species. Utilising his adventurism with
location and a
preference for natural light he focuses on fashion,
male grooming photography and also portfolios for
actors and models.
Adam Sutherland's photography
has been exhibited in 'Trade' as part of the
'Mardi Gras Arts Festival', 2002. At the TAP
Gallery, in April and June, 2003, 2004 and 2005
as part of 'Outloud Artists exhibition.
His solo exhibitions, 'Naked Gaze' 2004 and
'Naked Gaze Back', 2005 at TAP Gallery, Sydney
have been well received.
Adam has recently entered the 'Australian Photographic
Portrait Prize' (part of the Archibald) at the
Art Gallery of NSW.
Adam Sutherland's has had work published in
many international books and Magazines, including:
'Blue' magazine February, 2005 (issue 55), 'Dreamboys
4', 'Beachboys', 'Bad', Lads' 'Manatomy' and
'Lovers' all by
Studio/ Blue Books. ReFresh magazine, June 2004
and August 2004.
